More about speed

Your business gets the fastest possible download speed that is available from Telstra Business Broadband ADSL in your area. So for eligible customers in an ADSL 2+ zone that’s up to 20Mbps and up to 8Mbps in many other areas9. Maximum download speeds are based on Telstra tests.  Average speeds will be lower and actual speeds vary due to a number of factors including network configuration, line quality & length, your exchange, your location, internet traffic, your equipment and software.  Based on the latest Telstra tests, about 70% of our customers in 8Mbps areas can access speeds around 6Mbps or more; and about 50% of customers in 20Mbps areas can access speeds of around 10Mbps or more.  Some modems are not compatible with these speeds.  With a Network Gateway, download speeds on devices connected by Wi-Fi will be slower than on devices connected by Ethernet cable.

Uploads

Our ADSL upload speeds vary depending on the ADSL plan you have. If you want upload speeds equal to your download speeds then take a look at our Ethernet Broadband plans.

Things you need to know – Business Broadband ADSL plans
If you are moving from BigPond ADSL to Telstra Business Broadband ADSL, you will retain your existing BigPond ADSL email account for an indefinite period from the time the Telstra Business Broadband ADSL service is connected, unless otherwise notified by Telstra.
1. Excess usage charges apply after monthly limit is exceeded. Excess usage charged at 1x/MB on TBB ADSL bundle plans and 2c/MB on TBB ADSL standalone plans.
2. The maximum chargeable amount for additional usage per month is $300.00 per service in a single billing period on new plans only. This means there is no additional usage charge applied after you reach $300 in additional usage per month.
3. Device dependent and available through IPSEC capabilities on Telstra Purchased Cisco Router. This feature can be set up and configured through Broadband Extras Router Support Service or enabled through Business Support. Additional charges apply.
4. One primary address and four secondary email addresses provided per mailbox, including 100MB storage per mailbox and spam and virus filtering. SMTP facility included with BusinessMail POP has certain limitations, including: the number of emails that may be sent which is 25 emails every 10 minutes, the total email size for every email sent including attachments is 10MB and the number of simultaneous connections to SMTP gateway per IP address is limited so that only one email can exit at any point in time which means all other emails will queue behind this email.
5. Subject to domain name availability. To meet the eligibility criteria for .com.au, .net.au or.org.au domain names, your requested domain name must be an exact match, abbreviation or acronym of your name or trade mark or be closely and substantially connected to you.
6. For .au domain types, registration and hosting for 24 months. For non .au domain types, registration and hosting for 12 months. Renewal fees will be charged after initial registration. Each .com domain name will automatically renew unless you advise us otherwise. Initial business domain name registered where you take up any of the included Business Mail POP mailboxes. If you acquire multiple Telstra Business Broadband services then you must associate the included ten (10) Business Mail POP mailboxes with a separate domain name for each Telstra Business Broadband service.
